Evelyne Aebischer , an architect who graduated from the Zurich Polytechnic School (ETHZ) in 1997, specialized in lighting shortly after completing her studies. She worked for several years at a lighting manufacturing and supply company, which allowed her to acquire extensive technical knowledge in the field. She also followed all stages of the luminaire design and manufacturing process, enabling her to design luminaires specifically for different projects when appropriate. Philippe Bovigny, trained as an electrical draftsman, further developed his technical expertise in various electrical engineering firms, allowing him to interact effectively with technicians in the field. He completed additional training as a project manager and worked for several years for a lighting manufacturer and supplier. In 2005, Evelyne Aebischer and Philippe Bovigny combined their knowledge and skills and founded the lighting design studio Aebischer & Bovigny in Lausanne .
